Back in Black…take 2

Wednesday, July 1st, 2009

Okay, I’m going to try my hardest to get back into blogging here. I’ve missed too much, and for that I’m sorry guys.

So let’s do a quick life update:

Biggest news: I graduated from SCAD with cum laude honours. I’ve now officially got a BFA in Sequential Art and I’m ready to take on the comics world! Whoo! I have no plans to return to Savannah any time soon, but I’ll nonetheless treasure my time there.

Bigish News: My mother took the plunge and got laser eye surgery! She went with monovision and PRK. I had PRK and wrote an extensive journal on my healing, which you can read here. She’s healing a bit slower then I did, but she’s also quite a bit older. So my father and I have been helping out and driving her to and from work. I think in the end, she’ll be really happy, but it will take a little time.

Everyday news: I’m still working on the Marvel Official Handbooks as an art refurbisher. Once Handbook #9 is published, (end of July), I can begin to show you all what exactly I’ve been doing. Otherwise, I’ve been slowly colouring test pages for Marvel and wasting my time playing Fallout 3. Man, that game is addictive.

Art Dump

Saturday, October 25th, 2008

Here’s some stuff I’ve been working on for colouring:

It’s…alright, not too great but I’m still working on building my portfolio.

This was actually our first assignment in the computer colouring class, and I only dislike the first image. The other two I had fun colouring. The man in the moon wasn’t actually in the original lineart. But I love The Mighty Boosh too much to pass up that opportunity.

Okay, for our midterm, we have to colour two sequential comic pages, a pin-up and whatever we want. I chose to colour one of my most favourite comics, Kabuki. I absolutely love the painted style, it’s the kind of style I’d ideally want to create. Which I still strive for, traditionally. But I think I can pull it off well digitally. David Mack’s black and white pages are far more open to fancy colouring, which is why I chose this page:

And ran with it. Unfortunately, I haven’t gotten to the page after this, that’s for another update.

weekend update time again

Thursday, October 9th, 2008

We’re working on our midterms right now in my computer colouring class, which means that I have about 4 pages to colour (and some to draw) before next Thursday. I’ll be pretty busy getting that stuff up and done, but I’m planning on posting some recent work this weekend.

Now, off to class to doodle and colour for 2 1/2 hours!
